Humberline Drive

Back in the mid 1980’s, I was curious about a road in Etobicoke that appeared to have vestiges of an original alignment that was barely visible. At the more northern end, where Humberline Drive came to Finch Avenue, in exact alignment with the more northerly portion of Humberline Drive, was a clear opening through the trees. (Photo from 2018 – In the 1980’s Humberline stopped at Finch Avenue.) I worked in the area, and explored the woods there, finding some old Bee Hives in the woods, as well as seeing that the road clearly went straight in the past.

Choice Cut-Up Chicken

In the 1950’s my in-laws came to Canada from Italy and their first jobs were at Choice Cut-Up Chicken in Aurora, Ontario. At the time the chicken industry was so popular in the area, that Aurora was actually once known as the Chicken Capital of Canada.

Although at the time it was one of the biggest industries in the area, I couldn’t find much information about it. Some research however revealed that the factory was located on Old Yonge Street and by searching aerial maps of the area, I found out exactly where:
